Street Art Festival welcomes Happy Ducks

Police car looms in the street behind a seconds-old newly-painted graffiti art item: But it's here legally. Terry Ward was one of the three official artists of the Virginia Street Art Festival of 2018. Artists Nils Westergard and Julia Chon painted murals while Ward (AKA GrumpyVisualArtist) stencil-tagged several sites with HAPPY DUCKS. A 10-second video is below: ^*

For the more ambitious collectors, HAPPY DUCKS also appear on full-size Ward painting-panels, many of which are for sale at Basic City. ^* ^* Trivia: The hat (Hat II) is a restored version of Hat, the artist's battered olive drab bush hat which traveled from Chicago to Tampa, Norfolk to Madison on various art activities --including making (by invitation) New York City's largest legal street art roof mural. Virginia Street Art Festival director Meghan Williamson appreciatively photographing a duck on the Arts Center exterior. Duck-making artist Terry Ward said, "It's an honor to paint and exhibit alongside a master like Nils Westergard and also the popular Julia Chon." The slightly greenish-yellow tint to the white is due to a layer of glow paint. Some ducks on exterior surfaces get a glow treatment.
