-Art: Series D (Ducks)

Multi-panel OmniDirectional painting group; panels composed and wired to hang at any angle. Dimensions variable; each panel (~10 lbs) size 78"x12" (6.5ft x 1ft). OK to show/sell/regroup any combination of panels (including singles) even with other series.

2013-2017 and perhaps beyond: a multi-year time of trouble involving near-death situations, family health emergencies, extreme life-event crisis times, and complete loss of regular outside income --of thus being in a guarded and joyless state of "survival mode" almost continuously. At this time, a Ward-made Banksy-style stencil of a happy duck (left over from a municipal street art commission) came in handy. Sight of the happy duck cheered the depressed artist. Also, money for new art supplies (including the usual wooden panels) was scarce. Ward took to recycling some art panels by adding ducks to them. "I needed something to cheer myself up," the artist said. "The ducks give me a smile --and I need some smiles." Ward added, "They're my therapy: THERAPY DUCKS." The new "street art" touches could make the panels appealing to galleries seeking graffiti-inspired artists. Ward will not "duck-up" all unsold paintings: just a few as inspiration comes. No serious Ward series with narrative themes would be getting such treatment.
